What is Assetz Capital?
Assetz Capital is one of the UK's longer-established peer-to-peer lenders, providing finance to small and medium-sized businesses and for property projects. Through its Innovative Finance ISA, investors can earn tax-free interest by lending across a diversified book of secured loans.
How the Assetz Capital IFISA works
Your money is lent across business and property loans, typically with some form of security. Spreading capital across many loans is a core part of the model and is intended to reduce the impact of any single default, but diversification reduces risk; it does not remove it.
Rates and returns
Target returns vary depending on the account and the underlying loans. As always, treat target rates as aspirations rather than promises, and confirm the current figures and account types directly with Assetz Capital before investing.
The risks to understand
SME lending can carry significant default risk, particularly in a weaker economy. As with the other providers in our comparison, your capital is at risk, returns are not guaranteed, the platform could fail, and your money is not FSCS protected. Understand the security behind each loan type and the platform's approach to recoveries.
Pros
- + Established platform with a long operating history
- + Diversified across SME and property-secured lending
- + IFISA available with transfers in accepted
- + Range of account options historically offered
Cons
- − Returns and access vary with the loan book and market conditions
- − Capital at risk; SME lending can carry meaningful default risk
- − Not covered by the FSCS
- − Liquidity depends on the platform and secondary demand
Our verdict
Assetz Capital is a long-standing UK platform lending to small businesses and against property. It offers diversification across a range of secured loans, which can spread risk, but it does not eliminate it. Capital is at risk and your money is not FSCS protected. It may suit investors who want diversified exposure to UK SME and property lending and who understand they could lose money.

About the author
I have worked in search and online publishing since 2006 and am Managing Director of a UK digital marketing agency. Over nearly two decades I have built a reputation for rigorous, data-led analysis of online markets.
Beyond my agency work, I am an active early-stage investor through the UK's SEIS and EIS schemes, and provide digital due diligence services to venture capital and private equity firms, work that centres on independently verifying claims and assessing risk. That same evidence-first discipline shapes how every provider on this site is researched and reviewed.
I built peertopeerisa.co.uk because the existing coverage of Innovative Finance ISAs was either thin comparison tables or platform-owned marketing. My aim is a genuinely independent, plain-English reference that always leads with the risks.
I am not a financial adviser and nothing on this site is personal financial advice. When I hold a view, I show my working and the sources behind it.
