The principle: risk first, always
Peer-to-peer lending is a high-risk investment that is often presented as if it were a savings account. Our first job on every page is to make the risks unmissable: capital at risk, no FSCS protection, and limited access to your money. We will never bury that to make a product look more attractive.
What we assess
For each provider we look at the same factors:
- Security: what loans are secured against, and the realistic loss given default.
- Target rates: stated clearly as targets, never as guarantees.
- Minimums and fees: the real cost of investing.
- Access & liquidity: how and when you can get your money back.
- Default handling & recoveries: what happens when a loan goes wrong.
- Wind-down plan: what happens to your money if the platform fails.
- Track record & regulation: history, FCA authorisation and transparency.
- IFISA specifics: transfers in, flexibility and account types.
How we handle money
Some outbound links are affiliate links and we may earn a commission if you open an account. This never affects our assessment, our ordering, or what we write. Where we do not have an affiliate relationship with a provider, we still link to them with a plain link so the comparison stays complete. We label affiliate links and explain the arrangement in our affiliate disclosure.
We do not present our comparison as a ranked "winner" list, because the right provider depends entirely on your own circumstances and risk appetite.
Keeping it current
Rates and terms change. We re-check and re-date our comparison and reviews regularly, and we always tell you when a page was last reviewed. If you spot something out of date or wrong, please tell us.
Compliance
This site provides general information and comparison only, not regulated financial advice. Provider-specific content is written to inform rather than to induce, and is reviewed for compliance with UK financial promotion requirements before publication.
About the author
I have worked in search and online publishing since 2006 and am Managing Director of a UK digital marketing agency. Over nearly two decades I have built a reputation for rigorous, data-led analysis of online markets.
Beyond my agency work, I am an active early-stage investor through the UK's SEIS and EIS schemes, and provide digital due diligence services to venture capital and private equity firms, work that centres on independently verifying claims and assessing risk. That same evidence-first discipline shapes how every provider on this site is researched and reviewed.
I built peertopeerisa.co.uk because the existing coverage of Innovative Finance ISAs was either thin comparison tables or platform-owned marketing. My aim is a genuinely independent, plain-English reference that always leads with the risks.
I am not a financial adviser and nothing on this site is personal financial advice. When I hold a view, I show my working and the sources behind it.
